Gage Technician

JOB FUNCTION:

Executes the assigned duties as necessary to support technical and commercial issues as required to resolve quality and/or manufacturing problems.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Responsible for application issues and supports the department with technical related skills.

2 Perform calibrations using high-precision, highly accurate measurement instruments.

3 Read and understands technical procedures, standards and engineering drawings and interdepartmental correspondence, reports and documentation.

4 Performs job-related duties assigned by the Quality Supervisor or Quality Manager.

5 Reports to management observed technical issues and problems experienced by customers and perceived action required to resolve these matters.

6 Enter calibration activities on a database to include equipment records, event and history.

7 Generates reports as required on quality activity.

8 Assist with any specialized training needs; assist staff in identifying all other training needs; accreditation requirements, purpose, scope, administration, and practice within the calibration department and also within QA.

9 Reviews current calibration publications for staying up to date with trends, practices and procedures available to the technician.

10 Help to promote any and all company-wide quality improvement efforts.

11 Good interpersonal and communication skills

EDUCATION:

High school education required. Prefer 2 years of technical education in an engineering-related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Entry level - 2 years experience in the gage department. Ability to read standard operating procedures and engineering drawings; basic understanding of engineering drawings using Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) required.

SUPERVISION:

No supervisory responsibility.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
